General Labourer

Responsibilities

 

 
  • Assist with general construction tasks: Support the construction team by performing various manual labor tasks such as lifting, carrying, and moving construction materials and equipment. Assist in setting up and dismantling construction sites.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization: Keep construction sites clean and organized by removing debris, sweeping, and clearing work areas. Assist in maintaining tools and equipment in proper working order.
  • Follow safety protocols: Adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and report any safety hazards or incidents promptly.
  • Provide support to tradespeople: Assist skilled tradespeople, such as carpenters, electricians, and plumbers, by fetching tools and materials, holding materials in place, and performing other tasks as instructed.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively: Work closely with the construction team, supervisors, and other workers to ensure efficient project execution. Communicate any concerns or issues to supervisors in a timely manner.

    Qualifications & Professional Skills

  • Prior experience in construction or a related field is an asset.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual labor tasks, including lifting heavy objects, for extended periods.
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Basic knowledge of construction tools and equipment.
  • Adherence to safety protocols and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in maintenance management, preferably within the construction or infrastructure industry.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage a diverse team of maintenance technicians.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in Portuguese highly desired to effectively communicate with Portuguese and Brazilian workers.
  • In-depth knowledge of maintenance best practices, equipment troubleshooting, and repair techniques.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance standards in the construction industry.
  • Proficiency in using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and other relevant software applications.
